Public Notice Regarding Shooting Incident

Public Information

On October 27, 2025, at 12:52 PM, a shooting incident occurred at the intersection of Lytle Road and Ferry Road, just outside the Village limits. In response to the situation, School Resource Officer Shannon Mermann quickly placed the school on lockdown and secured the perimeter of the campus. Officers from the Waynesville Police Department were instructed to conduct a saturation patrol in the Village near the victim's home until an arrest was made. Officer Mermann provided valuable information to the Sheriff's office that helped identify a suspect. The shooter was located and apprehended without further incident. He is currently being held in Miami County Jail pending extradition proceedings.
